An Island off the Gulf Coast of Florida

About image
Update 14th May 2025

On the South end of the Island there is very little open at Santini Plaza yet, no bars/restaurants. The nearest is at Snook Bight Marina behind Publix which is around a mile away which has a bar/restaurant the Junkanoo & a ‘posh’ restaurant the Fresh Catch Bistro.
If you are going to Times Square there is plenty of parking, best value is parking behind Wahoo Willies, near Nervous Nellies, afternoon/evening parking is usually $10, all day is $20. Those are both open as is the Snug Harbor between them where the food is excellent. The Upper Deck, above Matanzas is open with a limited menu, as are the SOB & Yucatan which we like for its selection of beers and food and casual atmosphere. In the Square itself La Ola is open and behind it a new bar Waves, be warned it is a Karaoke bar and is quite bad. The Italian Pizza/Pasta place is open. Margaritaville is open, upstairs bar is nice, and there is a downstairs bar on the beachfront. There is a new beachfront bar at Lani Kai, its fine. If you want late night then The Lighthouse is the place to go, open until 2am. Friday is usually a live band or Karaoke (generally very good).
There is a trolley on the Island, you catch it between Flamingo and Driftwood, you will see the bus stop & layby. At this time of year it is every 90 minutes (roughly). So 4:30pm & 6pm. You can get live times on the Transit app, I’ll send you a WhatsApp with a photo of it. The last bus back from outside La Ola is 9:20pm. The trolley cost 75c per person and no change is given. The trolley is the 410N to Bowditch Park. There are taxis available, UBER can cost between $12-$20. Local taxi firm is Peake Island Taxis 239-744-8293.
When you leave the condo, make sure that the bins are emptied and anything you brought with you be sure to take away. If anything is left that the cleaner has to deal with there is an additional charge over and above the $200 cleaning fee!!!

Update 28th December 2024

Hurricane Ian - Hit Fort Myers Beach on 28th September 2022. It had a devastating effect on the island and many estimate it will be 5 years until fully recovered. An update on my condos, power was restored to both my condos on 18th April 2024. We were then awaiting Fire Service inspection to get Certificate of Occupancy, when obtained we can start internal repairs. Certificate of Occupancy granted mid-July, since then we have been carrying out repairs and as of end of October 2024, both are fully repaired and liveable. Although the elevators are still out of service, expected February 2025, as are the tennis courts.

After registering with the Town of Fort Myers Beach we are putting both units up for rental from January 2025.

This website is intended to describe Fort Myers Beach, it's amenities, how to get there and to show the two condos we have there. The website will be used to share this information with family and friends.

You cannot book to rent here, to rent accommodation on Fort Myers Beach I recommend  https://www.itrip.net/vacation-rentals/usa/fl/fort-myers-beach

Bars & Restaurants

The after effects of Hurricane Ian are still being felt and many bars and restaurants were destroyed. Repair work goes on and as each week goes by more and more businesses on the island are re-opening, some in temporary or mobile premises. The businesses in Santini Plaza started to open October 2024, although it is expected to be late 2025 before there are bars/restaurants open. There are bars and restaurants throughout the island and off island both North & South. The main area on island is Times Square in the North which is around 3.5 miles from the condos, around 1 mile from the condos going North at Snook Bight Marina, behind Publix, there is a waterfront bar, the Junkanoo and a restaurant the Fresh Catch Bistro.
